The Centre for Biodiversity and Natural Products
Centre for Biodiversity and Natural Products (CBNP) is a research establishment within the University Papua New Guinea (UPNG) devoted to:
- Natural history collections curation and management
- Capacity building and training for collections managers
- Strengthening research capacity at the institutional level
- Teaching and mentoring students at all levels (undergraduate to postgraduate)
- Biological research and conservation
Providing technical
Research was initially a section of the Department of Planning and Development, which was later transferred to the Centre for Research and Postgraduate Studies, when the latter was created in 2002, as a part of the University's restructure. The Postgraduate programs of the Centre were entrusted to respective Schools and the Research wing was formed as the Office of Research when the Centre for Research and Postgraduate studies was abolished in 2007.
