{tab Information about the Strand}

Dealing with people and their social wellbeing is a very challenging field for a social worker. At UPNG the Social Work Strand produces graduates who live with the people in both rural and urban communities and help them through applications of appropriate intervention practices to enhance the quality of lives. We encourage students to major in this program because their knowledge and skills are needed to address critical social development issues underpinning every sphere of our contemporary changing society. Graduates are expected to be in the mainstream development process to address social development issues relating to improving peoples’ lives based on human dignity, social justice and equality and empowering people to be part of decision making and implementation process, among other things.
